In 2011 Medad and Connie Birungi brought their small son, Omega, to Memphis for brain surgery to remove a life-threatening tumor. When we met, God connected us deeply and our journey to serve in Africa began. In 2012 we visited Uganda for the first time to connect with World Shine Ministries – the ministry Medad and Connie had started 10 years earlier. It is a wonderful ministry committed to raise godly men and women to lead Uganda and influence the nations for Christ. Their mission to reach through evangelism, raise through discipleship and release to influence the nations struck a kindred chord. We were pleased to partner with them and thought the name World Shine USA would be a good compliment to World Shine Ministries in Uganda.
Over the last few years our support of other indigenous Ugandan ministries has increased. With a passion for discipling university-aged men, we helped World Shine Ministries raise up a team of young men and women who are on fire to share the Gospel and raise up others through discipleship. Bethel Youth Ministries was born and we opened a discipleship house in Kampala adjoining the largest and oldest university in the country: Makerere University. Christian Model Ministries (CMM) is another ministry that spreads the Gospel across the country. We are providing Bibles for prisons through CMM.
As a ministry committed to seeking out indigenous Christian ministries to help them advance the Gospel of Christ through their ministry, we felt Indigenous Advance Ministries would be a better name to communicate our vision and we made the change in 2019.
Please join us as we advance the gospel of Jesus Christ through Indigenous Advance Ministries.
We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Holy Scriptures are entirely reliable and reveal God’s plan for mankind.
